The
WikiHealthCare application is currently being developed as part a pilot project that has been funded through a grant from the
Smoking Cessation Leadership Center at the University of California, San Francisco. The pilot project is part of a two-year study that was designed to investigate the impact of an intervention (a Joint Commission letter and resource materials that were sent to hospital CEOs) on the smoking cessation counseling measure rates of lower performing hospitals. The scope of the grant was expanded in 2007 to include the development of a wiki application that could be used to disseminate effective smoking cessation practices among hospitals.
