Posted by StevenMartin on 21 May 2008

Summary: MOSAIC provides SRIRT services to University students. Clients came from three areas: 1) judicial referrals; 2) outreach to Greeks and athletes; and 3) open assessments. The BI serves as an means of exploring the drinking patterns of these students along with an opportunity to modify their drinking behavior. MOSAIC is a successful collaboration between three University offices: Office of Judicial Affairs, Wellspring Program, and The Center for Drug and Alcohol Studies. MOSAIC helped spur a statewide SBIRT application that is pending.

The success of the UD MOSAIC SBIRT project has lead the University of Delaware administration to make an on-going committment to its students in the form of maintaining the availability of screening and brief intervention services for substance abuse. This past Spring, two additional permanent staff positions were added to the Wellspring Student Wellness Program in order to maintain and expand this committement of using screening and brief intervention as a key means for identifying and decreasing substance abuse within the student body.

MOSAIC has also spurred an application to DOE to enhance and codify MOSAIC and complimentary environmental stategies as an Effective model for Colleges.
